Jeff - I am thinking about you guys a great deal, I can tell you. The oil leak is so wrong in so many ways, and every day I shed a tear (or many!) about what is happening over your way. Yes, you should relocate here! Hopefully the oil won't get this far :( I love your deer story - but I stop short of planting a veg plot for the deer! So far, he's not been back (touch wood), but who knows. At least he's not as bad as the were-rabbit we had a few years ago who ate EVERYTHING. Take care of you and yours - and yes, I am definitely watching the oil news :(

Pam - The more you write about your paddles the more I want to relocate my family, especially with the oil in my backyard (Gulf coast of Florida). On a happier note, congratulations on your anniversary you gave each other the best of gifts, timeless memories on the water.

You covered a lot of topics in this post… To think Alan may have collected rubbish that floated there from another hemisphere. "Fake plastic seas"

I also laughed at the roe deer problem. Our family garden in Pennsylvania was constantly enjoyed by deer. We tried everything to encourage them to eat somewhere else. We even grew their own vegetable patch one year thinking that would keep them out of our garden. The only thing that worked was hanging little burlap bags filled with mothballs on sticks in the garden. I miss having a garden.

Well keep a watch on the news about the oil. It is going to get worse with hurricane season approaching. All we can do is enjoy what we have. - Jeff

Hey Soozie - This is good info, thanks. I don't normally do 6 am either ... at least not on Sundays. Obviously, I'm going to have to get up at dawn (4 am!) every morning now, just in case ;) Thanks for offering to look for cats for us - it's reassuring to know we have back-up for such situations, although I'm hoping it doesn't happen too often. Basically, Ailsa got scared by me running about yelling at the deer and jingling keys (she HATES keys) and went into hiding. I thought she'd run out behind me. What a morning! Thanks again x
